Ms Towers trained to be an actress at the American Academy of
Dramatic Arts and started her film career in 1955 in a movie title Bring
Your Smile Along. Constance was seen as the resourceful Southern-belle
leading lady of the 1959 film “The Horse Soldiers,” then portrayed similar characterization if “Sergeant Rutledge”
in 1960, both of which were directed by John Ford. With several film and
TV appearances after that, Constance finally made her professional stage
debut in a 1960 production of “Guys and Dolls”. A year later she made
her Broadway appearance as the star of Anya, and musicalization of Anastasia. She is mostly known for her
talent in musicals, and has made hundred appearances in revivals of such
classics as South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music. During
the 1960 and 70’s Constance hosted a daily discussion show on a New York
radio station WOR. Since then she has made a numerous TV appearances. Ms Towers is married to former actor and U.S. diplomat John Gavin. |
