This week's Muse Column is provided by:
Chris
(Note from Katrina:
This is not our "In a Lather" columnist, Chris Simons, who is on
hiatus.
This is another wonderful Chris!))
After the purging I did in my last column, I thought I’d have a hard
time coming up with anything so soon. Foolish
me. As long as JFP is still
beating this dead horse we lovingly refer to as General Hospital, they’ll be
plenty out there to fuel my sarcasm. And
so to work.
- I
think the latest Luke and Laura adventure with Jennifer Smith was a great
combination of humor and romance -- something that GH USED to be known for
(is someone else writing this stuff?)
Sally Struthers was perfect in the role.
She walked the line between the hysterical and the yuck factor when
she would clack her teeth together or nibble on Luke’s ear.
She’s been a breath of fresh air during this stagnant period of
GH history.
- I’m
SO glad that Felicia has affected a Texas accent while in Texas.
Otherwise how could we, the audience, relate to her disguise...
- Where
did AJ shop for Courtney? Whores
‘R Us? And the “Pretty Woman” dress looked MUCH better on
Julia.
- If
Carly is so hot to not be considered Sonny’s property she MIGHT consider
taking off the rock and her wedding ring.
- I
must be one of the few people that like Jax and Skye together.
I don’t think the problem is the actors or a supposed lack of
chemistry. The problem is
clearly (and get ready for a shock here) the writing. I’m beginning to harp on this theme but I think it’s
true: whoever makes the
decisions at GH must be a man with a really bad self image because yet
another strong female character is being ripped to shreds.
Skye is a GREAT character. Watch
her interact with AJ, Edward and Ned -- all men that she has no
possibility of a romantic entanglement with (which, in a twisted way, is
too bad in the cases of AJ and Ned but let’s not go there) -- she’s
not someone to take lightly. HOWEVER,
put her in a room with Jax or even Sonny and she becomes a self-conscious
wimp. It makes no sense to
me.
- How
come Helena rates the orange prison jumpsuit (with the ever stylish turned
up collar) but Melissa gets stuck in the drab gray ones?
Jensen Buchanan really must have pissed off someone terribly.
Maybe her line from last week is telling:
“I really wish I could say that this has been fun but it
hasn’t.” Hmmm.
- Doesn’t
the PCPD have a back door to exit from when transporting prisoners?
And why was the window in the police car open as Melissa was in it?
No wonder they all run around like the Keystone Cops (showing my
age here.)
- So
it’s okay for Gia to rip the guy in the body shop a new one for losing
her car but Nik can’t talk to his employees with any degree of
authority? And how DARE she
tell Alexis to leave Wyndemere! The
GH hairstylist must have braided her hair a TAD too tight.
Further evidence of insanity:
Gia’s actually going to let Sarah live in the same mansion much
less in the same hemisphere as Nik? Please.
- Now
if Gia would have admitted her guilt in the car accident what would have
been the worst thing that would have happened?
She’d have to pay for damages to Courtney/Mike’s car.
She may pay for Liz’s surgery.
I think the new red BMW cost more than both combined.
Dumb storyline. End it
quickly please.
- God
help me, Lucky and Nik have a point about Sarah’s sudden interest in
Liz’s well-being. Where was
Sarah when Liz was supposedly dead? Just
like OJ looking for his Nicole’s killer on the golf courses of Florida,
was Sarah mourning her sister’s death in Europe?
- I’m
glad to see Janine’s hair has come down a few inches.
Now if we can just get her to stop pimping her daughter...
- Since
when does Max get to tell Zander “This isn’t a good time” to see
Sonny? If ANYONE is going to
say that it should be JOHNNY!!!!! Arrgghh.
- FINALLY,
Sonny got an office chair befitting a mob boss who runs his business out
of a coffee warehouse.
- I
actually found something I like about Kristina.
I have to find out where she got that red plaid scarf.
- Would
anyone else liked to have seen the conversation between Alexis and
Kristina when Kristina told Alexis that she was going away for the weekend
with Ned? Another story
development opportunity missed.
And
did anyone else notice:
- That
Skye’s “bar” in her suite includes alcohol?
- Scott’s
obsession with Sing Sing and buying women a big fat steak dinner?
I’m not complaining.
Hell, I’m just thrilled to see Scott period.
Thanks
again for reading. I’d love
your feedback.
