Victoria's
GH Star Encounter! Okay, here’s how it
went down: Nia is a young lady that
lives in the same hall as me, Alpha, on Pepperdine’s campus.
Well, my reputation for loving General Hospital is known throughout this
campus. On Friday evening, Nia was
working the gate for the Nutcracker, at Smother’s Theater on campus.
Suddenly, Tony Geary pops up in his shiny silver sports car, and sees
immediately that Nia recognizes him. She
smiles, takes his money, and he gives her a wink saying, “It’s windy,
isn’t it?” Thanks to the Santa Ana winds we’re getting this time of year. So Nia later took his money when he bought a ticket, and then
seated him in the theater. Bubbling
over with anxiety and excitement, Nia frantically called my room the first
moment she could steal away. The down side? I was downstairs in another suite,
hanging out with some friends. So
at intermission, Nia called Public Safety and demanded a ride back up the
somewhat steep hill to Alpha Dorm Hall, on the other side of the campus.
She went to my room, of course I wasn’t there, so she hunted me down
until she found me. Out
of nowhere, I hear a voice, “Is Victoria there?” I turn around, and Nia is
coming in yelling, “THE GUY WHO PLAYS LUKE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL IS HERE RIGHT
NOW IN SMOTHER’S THEATER!!!” Well, she didn’t have to tell me twice.
I grabbed my coat, we ran down there and basically kept vigil outside the
theater until the performance was over. Suddenly
a wave of people come out, and I see Gary Sinise coming out to get into his
limo. He is followed by Tea Leone
and David Duchovny. But who cares,
right? I’m looking for Tony Geary! So Nia and I finally sneak up, trying not
to be seen by her boss who has by now realized she’s missing in action, and
she spots Tony. She tells me,
“There he is, go talk to him!” I approach him, and walk by him without even
seeing him, the crowd is so thick. We then pretended to go to the bathroom, but
then turned around and walked back out, smack into Jackie Zeman and Shell Kepler.
Unable to speak, I walk past them and turn around at the bottom of the
steps. Finally, Nia gets up the
courage I don’t have and goes over to Jackie saying, “My friend is too shy
to speak to you, do you think you could come over and introduce yourselves?”
AND THEY DID!!!!! I think I must
have been the only GH fan out there that night, everyone else was waiting for
their little girls, who were the real stars of the evening.
Jackie shook my hand and said, “Hi honey, I’m Jackie.” I said,
“I’m Victoria! Of course I know
who you are!” They laughed and said “Thank you.” Tony Geary winks at me,
but is unable to get away from a conversation he is having with someone else,
literally one FOOT away from me. I
extend my hand and shake hands with Shell, who says, “Did you guys enjoy the
show?” “Of course!” we lie. We hadn’t actually seen ANY of the show. Jackie
then said with pride that both her daughters were in the show and she was very
excited to be here. She then asked us what our majors were and how we liked
Pepperdine. The conversation was
wonderful, and then we moved to the stage door so that Jackie’s daughters
could come out and get their flowers. We
hung around for a few more minutes, then it was got late, and they had to leave.
They said good bye and thanks for being fans, and walked away.
All in all, it was an incredible and thrilling night!
