GH If you've lost track, here's the score so far:
(Yes, it's the same banner, get over it and move on). Left to right: John Ingle (Edward), fired, then rehired, contract status unknown but rumored to be on recurring. Fans everywhere hope the recurring part is incorrect, but "recurring" is slightly better than "fired." Was going to be killed off, but scripts are being changed. Kin Shriner (Scott), expected to be asked to take a salary cut but was fired instead (will fade away like Felicia and Justus). Greg Vaughan (Lucky), strongly rumored to be fired and equally strongly rumored that the role will be recast with either Brian Presley or Nolan North (both PC alumni). Hopeful hearts are praying Jonathan Jackson will return to the role and we can lose the whole NuNuNu prefix. Lane Davies (Cameron), fired due to lack of interest on the part of the powers that be. Chad Brannon (Zander), either fired with a spin doctoring saying he left of his own free will, left of his own free will after seeing the writing on the wall or was given the option to leave before being fired, depends on who you talk to. No need to write me with the "real" story since everyone who writes to me claims to have the "real" story. I just report what I hear, folks. In light of the rumors of the PC cast being integrated into the GH canvas, many are wondering if Lucy and Doc will EVER make it back home. Evidently, it won't happen as long as the GH folks now in charge are, well, in charge. They are staunchly maintaining that there is no room at the Inn for my favorite couple and have no intention of approaching either for a return. Then comes the wet dream of all rumors: that Claire Labine has been approached to take over the job of Head Writer at GH with son, Matt, as breakdown writer. Admittedly, it's the rumor that would have trouble growing feet because her history with ABC has been a bit rocky (although fans adore her) and of course, there's the minor fact that Guza and Pratt have cemented themselves into their chairs at GH and aren't likely to dislodge without a fight. Like the return of Sarah Brown/Finola Hughes/Tristan Rogers, this is the Rumor That Will Not Die and we all talk about it in voices hushed in awe when it rears its head. Can't hurt to hope. I can promise you this: if the Labines come on board, you're going to see a whole different GH. Rumors are also rampant that Blake Gibbons has been told that his services will no longer be required. If so, what a shame! He looked glorious in his few moments onscreen today.
It's not often that GH viewers stand up and say, "Who was THAT?" but the tiny appearance of Blake McIver Ewing as Georgie's blind date, Gay Guy, definitely got everyone's attention. Ewing has been a busy kid, starring in several TV sitcom episodes, as well as feature movies like the 1994 remake of "The Little Rascals," in which he plays rich boy, Waldo. Georgie's social life continues to perk up as she first invents a boy ("George Glass?") to make Dillon jealous, then finds he has come to life in the form of Travis, played by Jordan Hagan. He'll first appear in mid-January. Hagan's mother, Beverly Stoffels, was recently interviewed by Pioneer Press, her local newspaper, and was quoted as saying, "What if he sucks? They'll put him in a coma." I'm sure her son's managing company, Simmons and Scott, could reassure her that rather than being put into a coma, he'd like just faaaade away like their other client (who absolutely did NOT suck), Andrew St John (Kyle, lost boyfriend of Maxie). Hagan is, at this time, slated to be on the show for two months. (Personally, I think St John was taken into hiding to protect him from the legion of adult females in the viewing audience who were anxiously biting their bottom lips waiting for him to turn 18, only to learn that the young'un was actually a strapping 21-year-old. Suddenly, it was like a "Day After Thanksgiving Shopping With DVD Players On Sale For $50" stampede). I've been checking around and so far, rumors of Jill Farren Phelps (EP of GH) and Julie Hanan Carruthers (EP of AMC) changing chairs seem to be false. The most recent EOS GH Poll indicates that John Ingle would be the most missed of the recent firings, with Chad Brannon in second place. There's no word yet on how Zander will be written off the show, but at this point, I'm hearing that he will be killed off. In fact, I've heard two ideas for how this many people will be leaving the show, one being a serial killer (please, no, not again!) and the other being a Mob Moldavian Massacre type situation. Of course, soap enthusiasts know that Moldavian Massacres historically only kill Catherine Oxenberg and the gay lovers of Dynasty princes. Since we have neither (our only prince is convincingly in love with Princess Emily), I can't imagine they'd go that route, although Guy and Elton should stay far, far from Nikolas, just to be safe. Of course, the logistics of having Zander, Scott, Lucky, Cameron and whoever else hits the chopping block in one room at the same time for said Mob Moldavian Massacre are pretty staggering. Mike (Ron Hale) is yet another rumored to be on the way off the show by way of a mob related killing that sends Sonny (again) out of the mob life. Additionally, all those folks who are getting attached to the new Cassadine (Cassadyin' any more!) butler should be forewarned it would be a mistake. Cody McCall is also said to be soon deceased as he takes a swing from the rafters of Wyndemere. Individual camps are hotly denying the exits of Greg Vaughan (Lucky), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), Ted King (Alcazar) and Rick Hearst, all of whom are strongly rumored to be leaving. Stuart Damon (Alan) was said to have quite an emotional reaction to the news that John Ingle had been unceremoniously dumped (who could blame him?) and may have created a frown or two in his direction from highers up. With Monica, Alan, Bobbie, Ned and Mac only showing up every few weeks as props for the elite crew, one has to wonder how long they will be around. Despite the recent revolving door at GH, we can at least applaud the balancing of the scales as of late. Rather than watching 5 episodes of General Penthouse every week, we're now seeing Ric and Liz, Skye and Luke, Zander and Faith, Jax and Sam, Georgie and Dillon and Emily and Nikolas on a regular, if not daily basis, not to mention the fun of seeing Tracy around and about. Like some of the folks or not, we're at least seeing substories erupt that actually have little to nothing to do with Sonny and Carly. The question, of course, that comes into play is how this balance will shift when Anthony Geary (Luke) goes on his annual 5 week winter vacation. I had heard previously that Geary had been asked to combine his vacations into one, but that seems to not be the case. Both his summer and winter vacations are still written into his contract. This one will manifest as Luke disappears at the opening of his floating casino, right after his Christmas rebirth ala "A Christmas Carol." When Geary returned from his summer vacation this year, the new opening was re-revamped, Luke was suddenly front and center, as well as Skye and the mob exposure dropped considerably. Stefan's good-bye speech was re-written and Geary exercised his exclusive script tampering rights liberally, much to our benefit. One has to wonder what will be done in his absence and what he will change upon his return. Although Sonny and Sam's short exchanges were met with divided fan reaction, the powers that be are prepared to test the waters further with yet another crash of Sonny's plane on a deserted island. I swear, he needs to fire his pilot or start taking trains everywhere he goes. This guy's plane is in serious need of Viagra (and I have plenty of spam in my inbox to tell him where to get it) because the damned thing just can't stay up long enough to get the job done.
So what happens is that Sam stows away on his plane, the plane crashes and they end up doing the "stranded on an island" thing (Bring out that potted palm one more time!). Sonny has a necklace he'd planned to give Carly, so he has Sam model it for him to see how it would look on his wife (innovative, isn't he?). They are wearing almost nothing at the time and I hear the electricity was flying during the scene. Meanwhile, Carly has been having her own troubles and Jason recognizes that something is wrong. She continues to have visions of Alcazar dance in her head (I mean, who in their right mind doesn't?) and when Jason decides to get rid of Sonny's nemesis once and for all, Carly becomes frantic. Just as Courtney decides she might be interested in getting to know Brian a bit better, we learn that, as is wont to happen in soaps, all is not what it appears to be. He's using her to get info on Sonny, but awwww... he falls for her fer real in the meantime. Brian isn't the only one with secrets. Ric isn't telling Liz everything. Although we seldom mention causes or appearances (there are just way too many and we want to be as fair as possible, so EOS policy is that we just don't report them), this one really moved me. One of my EOS writers and dear friends, Victoria Russell, sent this to me: I am
currently producing three benefit performances of
"The Vagina Monologues" for the V-Day 2004
campaign. The shows will be February 19-21,
2004 at the Malibu Stage Company and may feature
some celebrity performances from local Malibu
residents. ALL the proceeds are going to Sojourn
Services for Battered Women and Their Children
(Vanessa Marcil's favorite charity and also the
domestic violence shelter that I work for) and
Break the Cycle, a group of pro bono lawyers that
represent clients in the 13-21 age range. Oh and by
the by, someone please just beat the total crap
out of me and feed me to the dingoes. Father
forgive me, for I have sinned! Evidently
there was no DNA test done to determine that Skye
is truly Rae's daughter. I was quite sure I
recalled Skye hotly demanding one and John Sykes
talking her through it, but I can find no record
of it and a couple of incensed fans have pointed
out my frailty in this grievous error, so I
apologize for my inaccuracy and retract my comment
from last week to the contrary. Ahem.
I shall truly hope that's the worst thing in their
week they were forced to get all bunged up about. AMC Fans of AMC heaved a sigh of relief when rumors of Jill Farren Phelps taking on the job of Executive Producer of the show were squelched. AMC Head Writer, Meagan McTavish tends to be a matched set with JFP as the two have played musical shows together all over ABC. Where one goes, the other usually soon follows, only to leave disaster in their wake. Word at the time of this writing is strong that Julie Hanan Carruthers isn't going anywhere and JFP is sticking it out at General Mobspital. Typically the most closed up of the shows as far as news and spoilers go, AMC continues the tradition by keeping the info on Michael Cambias' murderer under tight wraps. Speculation is high that Myrtle is the one and her couch speech today seemed to further that idea. The EOS AMC Voting Booth reveals that a whopping 51% of readers think Myrtle is the killer with the next closest contender at 28% being a hit man hired by Alexander Cambias himself from the hospital bed before he died. AMC viewers will get a treat in the near future when soap diva, Robin Strasser (Dorian, OLTL) crosses over to Pine Valley to interact with Adam Chandler. The script is written as though the two have known each other for years (much like the interaction between Dorian and Opal when Opal crossed over to OLTL last week and attempted to pick up on the oh so yummy cupcake of Dorian's, David Vickers). Dare we hope for a Diva Fight between Dorian and Mary?? If only!!
The most stunning news to come out of OLTL is to hear that media darling (if not with the fans), Linda Dano (Rae) is being let go with Faux Dr Rae scheduled to be a victim of the Dread Music Box Killer. Although all evidence points squarely at the good Dr Troy as the killer, the odds are running that it's a set up. Ty Treadway (Troy) is only scheduled to be on the show for a short period of time, but from what I've heard, we are going to be led to believe without a doubt to believe he dunit, only to have the story to take a hairpin turn at the last minute. Although the EOS OLTL Voting Booth says that the highest percentage of readers believe DA Daniel Colson is the killer, one sharp reader wrote to speculate that since the MBK seems to have clues all connected to Nora that it could be... Hank? Interesting thought! Joey Buchanan, in his most recent incarnation (Bruce Michael Hall), will quietly disappear after this Friday as he heads back across the big drink to spend time with Daddy Clint yet again. I've heard that ex-Joe (who was equally miscast), Don Jeffcoat has been considered for a return. Hall, of course, is well known for the homo-erotic modeling he does with brother, Seth Hall (who took over Bruce's role on the NBC soap "Passions" when he left to work on OLTL), as seen at these links (safe for kiddies - just say, "Because they are brothers and they really love each other, honey" - squeeze, smile): http://www.soaphunks.net/hallbr05.jpg http://www.soaphunks.net/hallbr06.jpg http://www.soaphunks.net/hallbr07.jpg Also leaving for London with Daddy Cord (John Loprino) will be Flash/Saran (Shanelle Workman) to keep her safe from the Music Box Killer. She will leave the end of January. By that time, Gabrielle (Fiona Hutchinson) is also expected to fall victim to the killer. Another rumored departure is that of Jessica Morris as Jennifer Rappaport Buchanan. Considering that JM is the sweetheart of OLTL's writing staff, it would surprise me, but that's the buzz. That would leave only my favorite Rappaport, Lindsay, remaining in Llanview.
OLTL will be borrowing ex-Ben, Mark Derwin from his hit show "Life With Bonnie" to wrap up the storyline in February. At first, it was thought he would be part of the scheduled Fan February show, but now it's known that he'll be finalizing the relationship between Ben and Blondie, likely with Ben's death from the injuries he sustained when Antonio shot him at Viki's cabin in the woods during the Alison Perkins/Niki Smith madness. And with that, Monday's entry is finished. I'll update you through the week if I come across anything vital that you might not find on other sites. Meanwhile, I leave you with these offerings of fun stuff. Jen-Jen's 12 Days of Christmas The Updated Pfft, Ouch and You Go Girl Page Much Love, ·.·´¨ ¨))
