GH

In light of the recent rumors of Greg Vaughan (Lucky the 3rd) being let go (which is people still vehemently deny - *cough* uh huh), rumors have been spreading like wildfire that original Lucky, Jonathan Jackson would be returning to reclaim the role.  Don't uncork the champagne yet, folks.  Although GH did approach Jackson about a return, even a very short term one, it wasn't possible as his schedule in filming new movie "Riding the Bullet" with  Erika Christensen and David Arquette in Vancouver conflicted with taping GH in LA.  Is it possible for a return after the movie wraps?... to be determined.

Gaining momentum is the whisper that the line up of characters being axed from the show will be gone in one fell swoop, be it by serial killer (When you hear that, don't, just for the flash of a second, you sometimes envision a guy with a ski mask blowing away a box of Trix or Mini Wheats?  Oh come on now, you know you do) or explosion.  It's still unknown who all will be surviving the cataclysm, whatever it may be.  For this week, the count stands at Chad Brannon, Lane Davies, Kin Shriner and maybe Greg Vaughan and John Ingle going away, although last I heard, John Ingle was staying on the show.  A few other rumored departures are mentioned below.

For those who are staying there is a serious game of musical beds being played as loyalties are dashed left and right. This is one of those times that being in a fan base dedicated to one couple is an exercise in futility.  Sonny and Carly are fully expected to survive their continued roller coaster ride of a relationship.  Tomorrow, look for some pretty heavy Sonny and Carly lovins, but all is not well in Corinthosland.

Carly continues having visions of Lorenzo and when Jason decides to take matters into his own hands, Alcazar gets a taste of what it's like to be on a leash in the panic room.  Alcazar tells all who will listen that he's the one Carly loves while Carly keeps declaring that she doesn't feel anything for him.  Jason thinks something's up with Carly, but she swears to him that she will never do anything to hurt her family.

Jason catches Courtney and Brian in an almost kiss after a dance.

Sam stows away on Sonny's plane and when he finds her, she reminds him that he owes her a favor for her testimony that cleared him of kidnapping charges.  They end up on an island in a cloudburst and are soaked.  Sam becomes ill and Sonny takes care of her.  Later, Sonny tells Sam that he will help her find the treasure in return for a particular necklace for Carly.

Carly is peeved when Jason admits that he thinks she slept with Alcazar.  When she denies it, he accuses her of lying.  Carly tells Courtney she has decided to check herself into a mental health facility to get over her haunting fantasies of Alcazar.  ("Hello.  My name is Carly and I'm an Alkie-holic."  "Hi Carly!")  Courtney and Jason fight over whether or not to stop her with Jason determined to get her out of the facility.

When Constance Towers returns to the role of Helena again in January, there is supposedly a chunky storyline waiting for her.  Anthony Geary will be coming back from his winter vacation in February and by then Helena will be knee deep in Port Charles.  She will be bringing with her a bit of vital information that changes things for a few people in town.

Rumor only (no spoiler here, folks, move along) says that Sage may be using that age old fake pregnancy to score herself a Dillon.

Be sure and check out the 2003 Wub Awards over at The Wub Queen's place.  Lots of fun reading!

Our friend, Carol Banks Weber, from Soap Zone reports the rumor that Ron Hale (Mike) also may be on the chopping block.  I heard Ted King is walking by summer if he doesn't get more to do than sniff after Carly five days a week.  (Ted, some people have to dig ditches!  Cash the checks and smile, baby)  Truthfully, though, it can't go on forever and if S&C remain strong (with a little shaken but not stirred action in the interim), there will be little for him to do but be scorned.  Also rumored to be leaving is Michael McLafferty who plays Brian.

Ric and Liz are also supposedly solid for a while.

Courtney and Jason are still broken up through January with Courtney getting closer to Brian who is trying to learn more about Jason.

Are you ready to buy your ticket for the GH Fan Luncheon on July 10, 2004?  Tickets go on sale to GH Fan Club members on January 2nd and to nonmembers on February 1st.  Only 400 tickets will be sold and this event is always a blast to attend.  The majority of your Eye on Soaps staff will be on hand for that weekend as well, so keep your eyes peeled for me (Katrina), Kathy, Carolyn, Dayna, Sherry, Kate and Victoria!  Tickets for the luncheon itself are $90 for fan club members and $100 for nonmembers.  Worth every penny, I tell ya.  After picking my jaw up off the ground last year when Robert Scorpio and Sean Donnelly walked into the room, I'm NEVER missing a year!  Events are still shaping up, but Shirley over at GHH2 has a good list going of what is scheduled so far.  Sadly, no Quartermaine brunch is planned for this year.  *moment of silence*

A new character will be slipping in for a temporary gig as Iris McNeill, played by Marquita Terry, first airs on February 4th as Carly's attorney.  For what, you ask?  We'll have to wait to see!

Watch for a surprising connection between Faith and Justus... no love lost between those two!

Rumors hint at a connection also between Alcazar and... Scotty?  Not much more Kin Shriner left to see on GH, folks as he quietly slips away ala AJ and Audrey!

OLTL

Two names now keep coming up in connection with the Music Box Killer and they're NOT Troy or Daniel Colson.  Evidently, according to my inbox, both Rae and Gabrielle are seen as unstable enough to be the killers, NOT the victims as previously rumored.  Certainly, Gabrielle has a bit of a bitter edge toward Nora for springing a child bond on Bo and she's not even started to recover from the pain of losing Al.  Rae is just twisted anyway and I think it would be a hoot if she turned out to be the killer.  I have a feeling that the powers that be are going to go more traditional if they ever do get around to solving the murder (it seems to be crawling along only marginally faster than AMC's Michael Cambias killing) and pin in on one of "the usual suspects."  One person you can bet it isn't is Troy.

Speaking of the good doc, he's going to be looking up Lindsay soon.

The seldom missed Adrianna will be returning to Llanview with a new face, this time belonging to Melissa Gallo (a newcomer to acting with just a couple of bit parts in her pocket).  River should shut the hell up now with any luck.  Jeez.  David, however (mmmm... David...), gets the hot idea to palm Adrianna off as Dorian's long lost daughter in the Aunt Betsy scam.  Lessee, that would make Adrianna River's aunt, right?

Don't forget that in a month or so, John Loprino will be returning to Llanview as Cord to haul his daughter off to London with him.

The news, folks, is just that slim.  All is quiet both on the western and eastern taping and gossip fronts.  If I hear anything new at all, I'll pop on to let you know.

Meanwhile, I'd like to thank everyone who helped us out last month with our EOS expenses.  As you can see, we made it for another month.  Our fees are due on the 7th of each month and that time is rapidly approaching again (man WHERE did the month go??).  If you would like to donate to Eye on Soaps to keep us on the net, you may do so with a credit card online by clicking on the PayPal button below:

Or click here to learn how to contribute via check, money order or (if you're feeling brave) cash.  It all goes into the fund to keep EOS on the air, so to speak.  Our existence is totally in the hands of the fans.  As long as everyone keeps chipping in to help us meet our monthly expenses, your EOS staff will keep writing!

Lots of good EOS stuff coming up this week.  I just wrote a piece on Luke Spencer, if anyone would like to give it a read.  We'll be publishing our "Best of Eye on Soaps" yearly wrap up soon and our regular columnists will be updating as well.  As always, the AMC, OLTL and GH Spoilers With Commentary has also been updated (each Sunday, whether you need it or not).  Check out our "Recent Updates" page daily to find out what's new on the site.

I hope you have a fantastic New Year celebration and that all of the fireworks you see aren't up in the sky.

Take care, darlin's!
