Another Season of TV Random Thoughts on Television I just received an email from a friend of mine explaining that she didn’t see a gorgeous actor on a new TV show, Ghost Whisperer because she was too busy with Desperate Housewives. Who trades gorgeous for Desperate? The gorgeous actor I’m talking about is Mr. Wentworth Miller. You may also know him from a new show, Prison Break or perhaps his guest appearances on Popular, Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He’s also starred in The Human Stain, something I have not seen. Regardless, I wouldn’t trade him for Terri Hatcher or any of the others on Desperate Housewives. He’s just far too yummy! With that being said, I’ve been excited about the new season this year. It was a long summer with far too much CSI and Law & Order! My newest favorite show is Prison Break. The storyline is different and unique in today’s TV lineup. The main character Michael Scofield, (played by Wentworth Miller) gets himself incarcerated in the same prison as his brother, who’s on death row. His brother was framed for killing the Vice Presidents brother. He’s thisclose to the chair and Michael having designed the prison, has decided to ‘break in’ legally and then break out (with his brother) illegally. He’s got the blue prints of the prison tattooed on his body, which by the way, is awesome. His body. Not the tattoo. There are several different characters that add spice to the show, including his cellmate, a lawyer, a few bad guys and a nasty prison guard. It’s intense and not for the younger viewers, but it’s worth watching. And not only because this guy is hot. He can also act. Well. Prison Break is on Monday nights on FOX. Next up for me is Ghost Whisperer. This is one of the many ‘supernatural’ shows airing this season. It stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as a young antiques storeowner, newly married, who can communicate with the dead. She ends up in situations where she’s got to give someone a message and of course, they think she’s a nutcase until it’s proven otherwise and then they love her. Is it silly? Yeah, a bit. But I like this stuff. I’ve always been fascinated with ‘the other side’ and believing it’s entirely possible to communicate with those who are there, I think it’s a fun show. I’m not the kind to get teary eyed during a show (usually only Hallmark commercials, and that’s only when I have PMS) but I did with this first episode. Of course, Wentworth Miller stars as a Vietnam MIA soldier who’s ‘lost’. He contacts Jennifer Love Hewitt and she unites him with the son he never knew. She’s newly married to a paramedic who is dealing with the loss of his first ‘client’ (for lack of a better term) and they’re struggling to find their way in this world. I like the concept, so if it stays on, I’ll keep watching. This is David Conrad. He plays the paramedic. Boy, if they look like this, I think I might need a paramedic to come to my house this week! I haven’t had a chance to watch any of the other new shows, but I’m interested in seeing “How I Met Your Mother” and “My Name is Earl”.
Earl is not cute but I’ll still watch. I got this off of AOL and I’m thinking it’s probably good, though I haven’t seen it yet. I have read a few other reviews of it and people seem to like it. I think they’re just tired of all the crime shows...
Supernatural Premise: The Winchester brothers battle evil forces on America's back roads in their '67 Chevy Impala. Cast: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles Our 2¢: The show has two hunks from other WB shows, a rocking soundtrack and a few genuinely spooky scenes. If week to week the producers can keep the production values high and continue the witty brotherly banter, they might have a ghost of a chance. If not, they can blame the Boogeyman. There are a few other shows that are coming back and I’m looking forward to them. I just caught the season opener of Charmed. Apparently they’ve had some serious budget cuts and have been asked to steer clear of the demons for a bit and focus more on the personal lives of the girls. The budget cuts knock out my favorite, Brian Krause for all but ten episodes. Which doesn’t make me happy! Also, for those of you interested, Mykel Shannon (the Soapnet soap star winner on GH) was on Charmed’s first episode. He may be on others, I’m not sure. Good for him! He’s getting jobs! I’m not thrilled they’re taking off the cop I love (I was equally less thrilled when they killed off Andy, otherwise known as Ted King). But if it’s what the network wants, we gotta take it. Apparently Pheobe gets a love interest. Imagine that. I think they’re trying to keep the character hooked up with as many men as Alyssa Milano gets in real life! My guess is this is the last season of the show, so we’ll see how it turns out. Anyone else totally ticked off that Joan Of Arcadia was cancelled? I’m not a big Amber Tamblyn fan, but I sure loved that show! Especially since Wentworth Miller was going to be on it! (okay, I’ll stop now!) I’m also interested in the return of Cold Case. I like this show because of the unsolved concept. It will be interesting to see if they continue to keep it fresh, rather than using “Ripped from the Headlines” type stories as do a few other crime shows. Rumor has it that Sarah Brown (Carly #1, GH) has landed a role on the show but all I can get is a guest starring spot, not a series regular. Of course, I still love the Nanny shows. My kids can’t imagine what life would be like if they behaved that way and I was around. I tell them they can’t imagine it because it won’t happen with me being around. They can’t figure that one out. I’ll keep
watching and see what’s coming on. I love this time of the year; the
weather cools, I can drink more Starbucks Grande Non-fat No Whip 2 Pump
Mocha’s and watch something new and hopefully different when I need some
veg time!
