OH GOD,
I am so totally wasted from the massive celebration party that started
tonight. I've been rowdy partying with the darlings from the Sage Brush
Ranch message board and those CassaHos and I can barely walk or see. Dem
girls are NUTS! What bunch booze hags! Lordy, lordy, MIss Claudie!
But hey! I promised another column today and honey chile, that's what
you're gonna get! There's a fair bit to tell, so I'd best get to telling
it!
You Heard Right, Baby!!
Stefan Darius Mikkosovich Cassadine iz in da hizzouse and is being played by
none other than the best of the best, the king of darkness, the batastic, the
dynamic, the untouchable STEPHEN NICHOLS! I just heard from the CassaHo's
tonight (I trust NO ONE but them for all things Nichols and honey, until a
CassaHo says it, it just ain't TRUE! Then Sherry and Sandra show up on my
doorstep with 4 bottles of champaign for them and a bottle of Captain Morgan for
me and it was ON! When I saw those goblets, I knew what we were toasting!
Next thing I knew, I was sucking Morgan and coke out of their stadium pumps and
snorting feathers out of my nose) that what GHH2 reported a few days ago is 100%
true! Stephen Nichols is definitely reprising the role of Stefan with
taping to begin May 5th or 12th. That means we'll see him around the end
of the month.
ABC must have made him one hell of an offer to get him back, but regardless,
the thought of having SN and Tyler Christopher back together on screen is just
deeelicious. There is a lot of (justified) fear flying around for what the
current powers that be will do to the character of Stefan, but as far as I am
concerned (no doubt I will later eat these words), as I told a friend of mine
tonight, they can nail Stefan to the fireplace mantle at Wyndemere and have a
camera pan past him once a week and I'll be happy. Actually give him
walking, talking air time and Sage is in HEAVEN!
I do have a tiny bit of consolation to offer those who are fearful. If
you will remember, a while back I mentioned that Jill Farren Phelps (the in name
Executive Producer of GH) has been, off the record, taken down a peg or two and
major control of the show has been turned over to Guza and Pratt, the GH Head
Writers. Guza will seldom work on a show where he doesn't swing a great
deal of... control, so I'm of the opinion that he is the one primarily calling
the shots with a peep or two from JFP (I'm imagining the Dormouse at the
teaparty who comes to, mumbles a few words, then passes out again) and an
occasional wave of the wand from Brian Frons, Head of ABC Daytime. With
Guza as the driving force behind what's happening with GH, I'd have to say that
we're probably safe because he invented this incarnation of the Cassadines and
loves to write for them. They started going to hell in a handbasket when
Megan McTavish was writing for them and saw no use for them to be on canvas.
Therefore, she didn't write for them. I really, really believe that A)
we're going to get Helena back pretty soon and B) we're going to get a really
good Cassadine story. I imagine he is feeling that Sonny has gone about
all he can go for now, Maurice needs a rest and so he'll turn his attention to
his second favorite project: the Cassadines. I think this is just
further evidence that GH is on the upswing. I really believe that we are looking at a
very, very shiny GH future!
AMC
As you've probably already heard, something else is a go as well. We
are going to witness history as on April 22 (barring war interruptions), Olga
Sosnovska (Lena) and Eden Rigel (Bianca) share the first daytime lesbian kiss.
ABC backed off of having the two actually hit the sheets (so far), but all
accounts say that the kiss is the result of Lena developing very real feelings
for Bianca, so a romance could actually happen. What? Lesbian AND
happy about it AND not dead from the waist down? How could that happen?
(hee hee) My resident expert says this involved a revamp of ABC Standards
and Practices to allow the kiss to happen. Brave new world, baby.
What the complete hell was going on with Kenny the Lawyer's Groucho Marx
eyebrows today? Yikes!
They're looking for an Alexander Cambias and the rumor mill is throwing Charles
Keating's name around. It's thought he might actually end up being a love
interest for Erica.
Jack Scalia's last taping is going on now and his final air date will be May
6, barring pre-emptions. All we know so far is that Chris Stamp will leave
in a "very dramatic way." What of Scalia? He's returning to LA and
from what is going around, he's not thrilled about being written off the show
and is goin' to California with an achin' IN his heart. He will definitely
be missed!
Have you missed Marian and Stuart since Jennifer Bassey was busted down to
recurring status a few weeks ago? Be sure and tune in on April 21st when
she'll have a few scenes and again for the May sweeps.
AMC is again inviting Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio) to take up
residence in Pine Valley and from what I'm hearing, honey, she's thinking about
it. Also on the really, really just a rumor status is that they are also
looking to get Robert Scorpio into the picture, at least for a short time, to
bring some closure to that story (on to GH then?).
OLTL
STILL and AGAIN, I can't gloat or glow enough about OLTL. Every day it
shows me something new to make me love it more. Roscoe Born was just
acting his butt off today and he should have roses and Daytime Emmy Awards and
Soap Opera Digest Awards and big kisses thrown his way. From his
description of his father's maltreatment to that scream of anguish when the rust
remover poured over his head, he was *on* in a big way.
Kudos also to, oh my, where to START??? Kathy Brier is absolutely
shining in the roll of Marcie Walsh. I'm eager to hear more of Marcie's
story and it's odd that a character is endearing to me when we really know
nothing about her. How far she's come since she was forging medical
records in Dr Conklin's office! Bree Williamson hit the ground running as
Jessica and hasn't slowed down for a minute. She is just sinfully good in
the part. The return of Robin Strasser forced me to adjust the brightness
control on my TV! She's has been absolutely faboo (even taking a hot slap
from Viki with barely a flinch) since the first second on screen and (with the
exception of her wardrobe - ick) today was the best yet as she boldy jammed her
hands into the sand and unearthed the Bahhhhddrrraa Diamond. And WHAT a
diamond that was! They couldn't have gotten a more real looking diamond if
they tried (Pay attention, GH and your ill-casting of the Ice Princess ways!!)
and I'm praying I can pick that thing up for under $30 at Shop the Soaps
sometime soon!
I *L*O*V*E* crazy Lindsay and can't wait to see her with Dorian. They
were such an odd little team! From what I hear, Lindsay is going to manage
to be cleared of murder charges (whoa!), but will still be cracked. We
have got to get Troy hooked up with someone soon because it's been DAYS since
his shirt was off!!
But I was on kudos. Bo and Gabrielle. Nigel and Roxy! Viki
and Lois! Mitch and everyone! I'm positively basking!! Comedy!
Romance! Intrigue! Villainy! It's just the perfect soap!
But alas... Roger go bye bye.
And so does Sage!!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend and if the good news keeps rolling like it
has been lately, we're going to be TOTALLY incommunicado for three hours a day!!
Feeling the Love, Sweeties!
