Welcome to ME!! Honey, you're either going to "get" me and know my heart and my intent or you're not going to "get" me at all. If you don't, know your limitations and just back away from the keyboard after clicking the little "X" in the box on the upper right corner of your browser window, ne'er to return again. I used to have a long disclaimer here for the confused and manners-challenged people who don't know the difference between a "rumor" or "gossip" and an actual spoiler, but screw it. Angry, bitter, small minded people will always talk their trash to compensate for their own 1st chakra frustrations and inadequacies. When you read those vicious people on the message boards, just shake your head and remember they aren't getting any play, so they're grumpy. Pity them, then dismiss them.
Note: Due to the large volume of e-mail he receives, Sage regrets that he is unable to personally answer each e-mail. He wants you to know that he reads each and every one (some 2-3 times) and greatly appreciates your communication. Please DO NOT ask Sage for further info on what is going to happen on the shows. Any information he has that he can share will be put into his column ASAP.
It's That Time Again! Thanks so very much to everyone who has contributed to Eye on Soaps over the past few months. With your help, we will continue to stay on the net. I have faith in this. As many of you know from her Nonsoapy Journal, Katrina's husband is laid off again, so she and I will be unable to make up the difference between EOS costs and reader donations this month. Our fees will be paid in about a week and we want to make sure that there are funds sufficient to keep us going when the time comes. Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated, no matter how big (of course) or how small. Due to the continued support of EOS readers, we were able to remove the popups from EOS and we sincerely hope they do not have to return just to have to meet expenses. We want to keep EOS a clean load and popup free. To do this, we are asking for your help to please contribute a donation to EOS so that we can still be here when you click on that link to us. We have a wonderful staff and love being here to talk with you about ABC soaps and life in general. We just need your help to do it. Click on the PayPal button to the right or on the Options button to learn other ways to help EOS stick around. Now, on to the Soap Stuff: In addition to the OLTL news below (Sept 26), I've also learned that Jen finds out she is pregnant, then miscarries, then starts to take birth control pills without Joey's knowledge. Antonio is being sent to Statesville for Keri's murder when under the pressure of Evangeline and Nora, RJ confesses that he found a suicide note in Keri's pocket after her fall and removed it before the police could find it. Headlines in Llanview's newspaper: LU Student Murdered in Las Vegas (it's Cris). Sounds like the John McBain (Michael Easton) story is taking a nasty turn. Paul (hot, hot, HOT), who is Kelly's long lost brother, knows CJ and rumors are that a gay storyline is being considered. RUMORS, mind you, not spoilers. When Rex first came to town, writers were ready to move forward with a gay story, even as far as asking John-Paul Lavoisier how he felt about playing the character as gay (he was a trouper). The story was pulled at the last minute, but the idea still lingers. Hints of the story of Al's return are leaking out under tight scrutiny by the studio. All that we know for sure is that Nathaniel Marston has been reinstated to the OLTL cast, Al is truly dead but his ghost remains in Llanview and he has a mission of some kind. GH Look for a surprise connection between Luke and Skye. Luke is charged with Stefan's murder after his rescue of Lydia sends Stefan falling to his death. Helena returns for the funeral. Betrayal?? By Johnny? Huh? Yes, for those who are wondering, Carly DOES fly to Paris for the wedding and attempts to reason with Sonny on the plane (he has moved out of the penthouse after becoming convinced that Lily's warning that he will lose both his wife and son if he stays with them will come true) and trouble comes when their plane unexpectedly runs out of fuel after being sabotaged. Lorenzo did not know that Carly would be aboard the plane and is panicked when he realizes that she is at risk. Despite her best efforts, opportunities continue to present for Lorenzo and Carly to bond. A birdie told me that Tony Geary was NOT happy with changes he found when he returned from vacation and is considering being asked to be released from his contract and walking away for good. He does, however, look forward to working with Robin Christopher and I have heard that their scenes together are wonderful and will open up a great acting opportunity for RC, so I am personally hoping he sticks around (and for reasons other than that, of course, I mean, he's da man). The Jax and Sam story is the one contender to hold strong against the Fab Four and the Journey wedding. When Tracy Quartermaine returns November 14th, she will also be drawn into Jam's storyline, as well as a couple of others (Luke, for instance). AJ? Nope, still a guest appearance from time to time. More guy stuff with explosions and fire and narrow escapes. AMC Lots of secrets revealed this week when Ryan comes out of the corporate closet as Alexander Cambias' sole, rightful heir and you'd better believe Kendall leaps right onto that, suggesting that they lump together all of the Cambias resources and splitting down the middle. Bianca reveals to Maggie that she changed her mind about the abortion and decided to have the baby and raise it herself, despite inevitably fur flying from Erica's direction. Jamie has an interesting reaction to catching Simone and Tad together. Kendall and Greenlee strike a deal. Kendall is first in line in the neck and neck race for who will be accused of murdering Michael Cambias. On Thursday, ex-Lucky #2, Jacob Young (aka "Old Yeller") debuts as JR Chandler, International Man With a Secret. And now, since I had to go all out on waving the tin can for donations, I have a special offering for you, because I love you, because you've all been so great about helping EOS stay afloat and as an advanced THANK YOU for donations for this month. Now, some of these I think are funny. Some are tepid because I was getting tired and everything was starting to sound the same to me after a full day of sifting snappies and trying to think of funny stuff and some just might not work at all. What is funny in my head sometimes doesn't translate well into print, but oh well, it's worth a shot even if you get a tiny titter out of a line or two. In extreme gratitude for the EOS donations to come this week, I offer a full plethora of:
Love,
OLTL News! Two interesting bits. As many of you have seen, abc.com has an interesting middle to their OLTL page and tvguide.com has an interesting column this week. Katrina also hit on an interesting theory in a message board post this morning, which I am reprinting with her permission: As far as the interpretation, I wouldn't
put it past them to say "Al is back... for good" as in "to do good
and not evil." To further this idea, they say Al is back on Oct 14th and I've just heard that when Fumero leaves in mid-Otober, there is a headline in The Sun or The Banner (source wasn't sure which) that says, "L.U. Student Murdered in Las Vegas." It's Cris and it looks like he bites it in conjunction with Natalie's pool tournament. Maybe they're going forward with the old Heaven Can Wait switcheroonie!! At this time, NM is still taping "Ghost Al" scenes and there is no solid word on what happens after that, just that NM is staying on. If this is a ruse like with Gillian on AMC, I'm really going to be pissed. Got the news, wanted to share it. Have a great weekend! Love,
Mad Doesn't Even Start to Cover It I'm having a hard time typing this to you because it's such a puke-inducing travesty. I was hearing rumors, but didn't want to print anything until I had confirmation. I just this minute got off the phone from finally connecting up with my most long-term and trusted source for GH and she confirmed the worst. Yes, Stefan is going to be killed off. No, it's not going to sit well with any of his fans because he is going to be dragged through the mud and if Guza has his way, turned into a rapist. My source wasn't sure if they were going to go the distance on that one or not because SN did strongly oppose the scenes. She hadn't seen the tapes that SN wrapped up this week and couldn't confirm if it went through or not. Basically, they want to write Stefan off in a way that he cannot be redeemed or brought back to life. It's the Rick Webber thing all over again. I also have it on absolute authority that this choice was from Bob Guza through and through. I know Stephen Nichols to be a consummate gentleman and professional and for him to balk at playing any scene means that it was really, really bad. Folks, this might just be what makes ME stop watching GH. I'm pretty pissed off right now. Additionally, I heard from a wonderful OLTL source that NM is still taping Ghost Al scenes, so I am not sure how long that is going to go on. At first, I heard he was gone and not taping anything else and now more reliable word is that he's back for the ghostly bit, starting at his funeral, but no word on how long or how it resolves. Dare we hope? Pfft, I dunno any more. Going to go drink.
Before we move on to the actual GH casting, I had to share something really funny with you. In doing the casting calls, I first, as you can see, did the AMC batch. Then, rather than created a whole new page from scratch, I copied the AMC page over and replaced the AMC character pictures with the GH character pictures, in the order in which they are listed on the abc.com photo gallery page (alphabetical by the actors' last names). I changed out Alcazar's casting to Mel Gibson right away because he was the first one that really came into my head, then I started looking at the way the movie stars' photos had fallen in relation to the GH characters. A really uncanny number of the movie stars matched up perfectly to the GH characters (in fact, I kept a few of them that I hadn't considered casting before!) and the ones that didn't match were just hilarious. Thought I'd pass that on to you: Click Here For The Accidental GH Casting and here for the It's been a fun 3 days, folks, but my brain needs to rest. All of these stars are starting to look alike to me. :) Be sure and stop by here to share your own ABC casting ideas. All My Love, Darlings!!
They Aren't Just Letting Him Go... They're killing him off! Word was released today that Stephen Nichols has finished taping his GH work and will have a final air date of October 3rd. Now, I'm pissed. Oh, and evidently, FauxLily is only going to be around through October, I'm hearing, maybe into November sweeps. The Journey wedding is moved up from November to October and has moved geographically as well... they're going to France. Now for the next installment of:

In Absence of Any Interesting News... which is indeed absent this week, I figured instead I'd share with you some "industry secrets" of the average soap columnist. One of these little trade tidbits is that when it comes down to it, there are only really three different kinds of columns: 1) breaking news, 2) pithy (or pissy), insightful (or incite-ful) commentary or tap-dancing while juggling, which is what we do when we don't have a damned thing to tell you, but still don't want to disappoint our adored readers, so we come up with some interesting diversion like reverting to number 2 (did it already this month) or giving out personal awards (Soapboy beat me to the draw) or doing picture captures (hard to do when nothing interesting is even going on in the pictures) or casting the... hmmm OK, why not? Everyone else has written this column but me, so let's go for it AND we'll even tie in Sage's Topic of the Week to it. To do this right, we must look over the official Sage Checklist for such an endeavor.
Having secured all those vital necessities, I now settle meself down to the newest Sage endeavor of:
Having announced my intent, I'm going to set up a few basic FYI comments. One is that I'm not necessarily going for looks alone in these casting choices, so if some seem a little odd, that's why. It's more for an atmosphere of the person. Also, for obvious reasons, I not casting every person on all ABC soaps. I mean, the column is only so big, not to mention that we have likely forgotten what a lot of the vets look like since it's been so long since we saw them. I also take great liberties with time warping so I can choose dead people and people at younger times of their lives (my column, my rules, deal with it). I can reuse stars from soap to soap. Hey, they're in different movies at the same time! If you don't recognize these names, go to www.imdb.com to find out what movies or TV shows they've done. These are only my feelings, ideas and impressions. I do not ask that they be yours as well. :o) Click here for AMC's Casting Picks!
Spend tomorrow with Sage too!
