Do You Miss The Hook?

One thing that OLTL does brilliantly is introduce wonderful bit characters.  Who can forget the fabulous Madame Delfina?  Our first glimpse of Nigel?  Bulk kidnapping Alex and later playing the adoptive father of Todd's baby?  One of the best loved quickie we've had was Harry the Hook, Ben's friend from the mob who helped Ben and Blondie when they were on their great escape by motorcycle.  Yeah, the story blew, but Harry was a keeper.  I have received word from Harry Fan, Caboose25, that the wonderful and talented Ed Kershen who plays Harry the Hook will be appearing in a one man show
Off-Broadway in NYC called, "The Godfadda Workout" at The American Place Theater, 111 West 46th Street , 7:00 PM every Sunday night. It's a parody of the classic film, "The Godfather," in which Kershen  plays all the characters in the movie, "relentlessly handspringing, vaulting, and leaping from one, to another."  The show got a terrific review in the New York Times and I'm sure you will enjoy it if you have the opportunity to see it.  Kershen is only performing in the SUNDAY night production!!  Let's hope OLTL EP, Gary Tomlin, checks out the show and decides we can't get by without more of Harry.  Imagine him shaking it up with Niki Smith!  He's always had the hots for Viki!

Brandon Routh Let Go!

Ultra-sessy Brandon Routh, who plays the woebegone, love struck Seth Anderson on OLTL has been let go from the role with a final airdate of April 17th.   The role is being recast, ala "Al."  Routh has been very open about his feelings regarding the sudden dismissal and released the following statement on his Official Web Site    "I am not truly saddened by this turn of events...in fact I am quite relieved.  I have gained much and will now move on.  I am saddened however by the lack of respect and humanity expressed by those in control of the show.  Instead of being open and honest with me they were conniving and malicious.  They actually had me come in to work Thursday [3/21], for four hours...then called me up to tell me they were releasing me!’  Routh has voiced no immediate plans for his career and plans on returning to Los Angeles.  Routh's only previous work includes a guest appearance on "Gilmore Girls" and on a brief moment as "Wade" on MTV's series, "Undressed."

OLTL Earns Daytime Emmy Nominations

Congratulations to One Life to Live for accruing seven Emmy nominations:  Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing Team, Hairstyling, Makeup, Music Direction/Composition, Outstanding Original Song, ("Tissue Paper Wings" by Michael Towber), and Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control.  No OLTL actors received nominations this year, including the standard nominees of Robert S. Woods, Catherine Hickland, Hillary B. Smith and Erika Slezak.  Sadly overlooked was the wonderful performance by Melissa Archer as Natalie which would have been a fine addition to the Outstanding Younger Actor, Female category.  Daytime Emmy Awards air Friday, May 17th.

Good-bye, Old Friend

Eye on Soaps was informed today by the Kristine, Co-President of the Official Roger Howarth Fan Club, that Howarth will indeed be leaving the role of Todd Manning in June of this year.  Although his contract expires in May, he has agreed to remain with the show an additional month to tie up loose ends for the character and the storyline.  Howarth intends to take a break to spend time with his family, then pursue offers in prime time and film.  We at EOS wish him well in his upcoming ventures, but will miss Todd greatly.  For more info, read Sage's column on Howarth's departure.

Alex Is Back!

Tonja Walker will be reprising her role as Alex Olanov beginning next month for a period of 6 weeks!  She will be involved with the story between Todd and Gabrielle.
